Not that I like too much attention but there's an awfully satisfying feeling when people appreciate your work, especially when you spend a good deal of time on it. As I have personally witnessed a mere low quality screenshot from a game in my scraps gets more attention than, say, a well drawn artwork that expresses a certain emotion quite well. This to me proves raw skill or talent alone will not garner attention in such a community. If anything to become popular you must go for fetish fuel and fanart. Not that I'd mind drawing my favourite characters and pin-ups, I simply do not want to stoop to kissing ass for attention.
Sometimes I do wonder if I should step on my pride for the time being. I'd like to write and illustrate a full colour comic series and I simply cannot do that properly as is. Drawing for the time being is purely a hobby since I'm studying game design (gameplay mechanics in particular) and seeing I'll have to be somewhat popular to get commission requests it's probably going to remain this way unless I make myself popular.
But I'm not drawing in anime style.
Cheers,
Zan
I think it was that kind fellow under your username who explained it to me.

Before I die, I plan to develop a fetish, if not at least a tolerance, to pain and fire. Therefore I can enjoy Hell.
